The CULTOS Toolsuite 2003
Eichinger, Scheck (2003), Demonstrator of integration interfaces and
EMMOs, © CULTOS 2003.
The integration capabilities of EMMOs rely heavily on existing XML
technologies as they are widely adopted along the publishing value chain.
As an example, the integration of EMMOs into Macromedia Director, a tool
for producing interactive CD-ROMs as well as interactive Web-Content,
is shown. The integration tools thereby re-use functionality provided
by the CULTOS transformers with respect to the XML export of EMMOs. XML
Plug-Ins for Macromedia Director allowed a seamless integration of the
EMMO XML structure.
Intertextual Cultural Threads
Billiani, Sabine, von Held, Pendlebury, Marin Laak and CULTOS content
group (2003),
Demonstrator of Intertextual Cultural Threads, © CULTOS 2003.
The reports from the six teams of thread builders are the reports
on individual threads, both completed and projected, that have been provided
by the five groups of literary and cultural studies specialists (DLF,
IRS, Soton, TAU, and TUB). The first group of reports is followed by the
report provided by Klett Verlag of the threads built to test the capacity
of the ontology to support threads built for applications in schools and
in educational publishing. »»

Ontology and Knowledge Model
Benari et al. (2003), Proposal for a standard ontology of Intertextuality,
© CULTOS 2003.
Apart from all the technological achievements, the CULTOS project
has produced a remarkable accomplishment in the field of intertextuality
research. We were able to portray and map all possible intertextual relations,
(relations between texts), in a model flexible enough to overcome theoretical
differences between academics in this field. »»

Benari, Ben Porat, Behrendt (2002), The CULTOS Ontology,
Knowledge Model of Intertextual Studies, © CULTOS 2002.
This document describes in detail, the Knowledge Model of Intertextual
Studies (synonymously referred to as "The CULTOS Ontology")
which will be the basis for a multimedia authoring environment that allows
the user to combine multimedia presentations with explicit domain-specific
knowledge thus leading to hypertextual information spaces enhanced with
ontological markup. »» more
Stoye, Benari, Behrendt (2002), The CULTOS Ontology,
Implementation of the Knowledge Model of Intertextual Studies, ©
CULTOS 2002.
In this document, we present the CULTOS knowledge model emphasizing
the implementational aspects. The document should be seen in conjunction
with "Knowledge Model of Intertextual Studies" which introduced
the major concepts of the ontology of intertextual studies, in the form
of a paper model. »» more
Document Model & EMMOs
Schellner, Westermann, Zillner (2003), Final Specification of Emmo
Model, © CULTOS 2003.
This document is the second version of the design of Emmos (Enhanced
Multimedia Meta Objects). The purpose of this document is to describe
the implementation and integration issues of Emmos (Enhanced Multimedia
Meta Objects) which are a novel type of structured multimedia meta objects
containing expert knowledge and realized in conformance to current and
emerging multimedia standards. Thus, the document first introduces the
Emmo design and its formalization. Then, the Emmo Algebra, which allows
to access and navigate the content stored within an Emmo in manifold ways,
will be specified. Finally, the concrete realization of the formal model
for the CULTOS project is explained in detail, design decisions are discussed
and implementation details are illustrated.

This document is the initial version of the design of EMMOs (Enhanced
Multimedia Meta Objects). The purpose of this document is to describe
the design of EMMOs (Enhanced Multimedia Meta Objects) which are a novel
type of structured multimedia meta objects containing expert knowledge
and realized in conformance to current and emerging multimedia standards.
